F.A.Q's

Q: My club doesn’t have any examiners, how can I arrange a test ?
A
: You could contact other clubs nearby if they have examiners, or alternatively you could contact your Area Councillor found here.

Q; I’d  like to become an examiner.
A: Your club committee needs to appoint you as an examiner. Once they are satisfied that you are competent, they will write to the Membership Administrator requesting that you be registered as a Club Examiner.

Q: I am not a member of MFNZ. Can I still take a Wings Proficiency Programme test?
A:
No, you need to be a current member. The CAA requires that anyone flying within 4km of an airfield or heliport has a Wings Proficiency. If you are late renewing your subscription to MFNZ, you should refrain from flying near an airfield or heliport as the qualification only applies to current financial members.

Q: Does the CAA recognise MFNZ Wings Proficiency Programme?
A:
Yes. MFNZ has a great working relationship with the CAA.

Q: What’s the best way to prepare for an Wings Proficiency test ?
A:
Read the guidance documents for the specific test, do the study and practice the manoeuvres. Talk to an examiner, have him watch you fly, and ask for feedback and comments on your performance.

Q: Do I have to take an Wings Proficiency test ?
A: Yes. If you fly radio control we regard the basic wings proficiency as mandatory for flying unsupervised.

Q: I’ve lost my copy of my Certificate(s) and need a replacement(s), what can I do ?
A:
You can contact our Membership Administrator, who will search the membership database for your record. If your record has your achievements listed, they will arrange for a duplicate(s) to be issued. However, if there are no achievements listed for you, then your only option is to apply to be re-tested by an Examiner.

Q: I haven’t been a member for a number of years, when I was last a member I had an badge. Will these still show on my membership card when I rejoin?
A:
When you renew you should be given your original membership number and record. If your record has your achievements listed, they will show on your new membership card. However, if there are no achievements listed for you (which is possible for very old records), then your only option is to apply to be re-tested by an Examiner.
