2013 C/L Spring Champs - RESULTS

Postby Andrew Robinson » Sat Nov 30, 2013 2:52 pm

Here are the results from the 2013 C/L Spring Champs held in New Plymouth in the attached PDF file.

Regards,
Andrew

Below is a brief write-up from Brian Howser;

The first control line competition of the new season. Mostly good weather only 2 hours of rain Sunday morning. I don’t have any results but I am sure Andrew will present them soon.

The first flight of the day was a Perky speed flight by Brendan.

Slow Goodyear had 8 entries, so that’s what Andrew started with. I reckon this was a good idea as everybody was a bit rusty after the winter layoff and the lower speeds allowed the pilots to get into team race mode. I don’t think there was any major damage but Andrew did have a fuselage crack near the tail plane so he elected to bring the 4th place model into the final.

5 entries in aerobatics and they flew 3 rounds. I think all the fliers enjoyed their competition.

Cannot remember how many entries in Fast Goodyear about six I think. Ash and I both had MK3 Rossi powered models to fly and neither of them worked very well. In fact mine didn’t work at all and Ash’s only did one tank full.

2 entries in F2C and both teams could not get anything to work when they were on the circle together so eventually they put in a couple of solo runs.
Classic A TR also only had 2 teams and we managed to put in 2 heats.
Graeme Christie and Roger Palmer spent some time testing F2C models and at the end of the day they were running a beautiful carbon fibre wing with a brand new Lerner motor. Under compressed but still fast. Sunday morning they screwed up the compression and hey presto 17.15 next flight 17.1, damn it’s quick.

Lots of speed flying, 2cc class, 3.5cc class, 5cc class, Jet class.
F2F TR, Graeme had a spare model so he loaned that to Rod and Brendan so that they could fly 3 up to give Graeme some competition. All models had issues for a while and couldn't get them all solved so a 3 up race never happened.

Just another great New Plymouth flying weekend. Thanks to Andrew for mowing the circle and thanks to NPMAC. I am sure some of you other guys will have something to add to this.

Cheers Brian.
