Weather Forecast resources

We all know how useless the Weatherman is, but I'm quite pleased with the accuracy of some of the alternative weather websites out there:

My first stop - http://www.windfinder.com/forecasts/win ... nd_akt.htm

Scroll down and choose your location (or nearest) from the list for a detailed wind-focussed 7-day forecast. Easily the most useful and accurate for aeromodelling needs. Click on the "Nearby" tab for other locations that might be closer to your field.

Second stop - http://www.metvuw.com/forecast/

Run by James McGregor of Victoria University of Wellington. A little harder to interpret than Windfinder, but once you get the hang of it, gives a long-range big-picture view of what's coming and is useful in confirming Windfinder's predictions or dismissing the rubbish forecasts you get on TV and radio.

Third stop - http://google.com

Just type in "weather" and the name of your location and it brings up its own weather data. Just a quick guide that seems to be more accurate than the Met Service offering.

I also look at the Met Service website and other weather/news websites out of interest, but they almost always contradict my top three sources in some way and are too often wrong.

Wynn Robins suggests: http://www.buoyweather.com/wxnav6.jsp?r ... ogram=Maps

It's a marine based 2-day forecast with a longer outlook for members.

I use weatheruderground
Gives forecasts up to 7 days in advanced at 3 hourly intervilles.
Works best in the major centres were there are many weather stations to choose from.
