Spektrum transmitters

Postby bbreeo » Tue Jun 24, 2014 8:28 pm

I'm thinking of buying a new Spektrum DX 6 transmitter and have been told they only come in mode 2 and have to be changed to mode 1 by the purchaser. Does anyone know if this is true?

I presume you mean the DX6i, because the DX6 isn't made anymore.

The 6i definitely comes in both Mode 1 and Mode 2. Don't let a shop tell you otherwise....

Did some quick googling, and it appears a Mode 1 Tx is available, SPM6700AU1, e.g. http://rcmodelaircraft.com.au/products/ ... 00au1.html
http://www.modelflight.com.au/spektrum- ... ode-1.html

However, according to the manual for the Mode 2 item, the Tx can be changed to mode 1 in a similar fashion to most other Tx's, so don't let this put you off.

As per their website, the are "User Selectable Mode 1-4", which means that you can change the mode yourself.
Most offshore radios are offered as Mode 2 by default as is what the majority of the world uses, we Kiwi's and the Aussies are an 'odd man out' when it comes to mode 1 usage!

Look at page's 7, 23, 40, 41 & 42 of the manual (downloadable from the link attached - it's in the 'manuals and support' section), it shows what is situated under the rubber grips on the back, and it looks like it's just a matter of looking to see what switch should be where (ie - it's pretty straight forward)

Hi there, if you're still keen on a DX6 there is a good product review in the latest #257 Aussie "Airborne Magazine."
The chap doing the review was very happy with it.

Okay BBREEO, would you like to share with us what transmitter you settled on. Are you now the owner of the new Spectrum D6.
